14.10.10There are probably several motorhome parking spaces in Weimar, but we have another one campsite preferred in Weimar-Tiefurt.
The site is 3 km from the center and is actually a large garden that has been converted into a campsite. There are only 2-3 parking spaces for mobile homes.
You can always cycle along the Ilm to the center of Weimar, which we tackled directly. It was foggy and so cold that I pulled the sleeves of my jacket over my hands.
When we arrived in Weimar, we parked our bikes centrally and explored the city on foot. Slowly the fog cleared and it became a wonderful autumn day.
First we explored the marketplace with the town hall(1841). The signage to the sights was excellent. Then it went to Schiller House. He was a few steps further Goose man fountain. The Goethe-Schiller monument was waiting for us in front of the German National Theater.
There were so many inviting cafes around us that we took a break with coffee and cake.
Goethe's houseOf course, it couldn't be missing either, so let's go there.

We were drawn to the countryside. To be more precise, in the park on the Ilm. It was good that we got our bikes back. It would have been quite a walk to walk.
in the Ilmenparkone encounters objects that couldn't be more different. First there was that Templar mansion(1811-1823) or its ruins. It had stood here until 1945 before it was destroyed by bombs. Then Goethe's Garden shed. (Garden house is good - ours is "a little" smaller :-)) Goethe lived here until 1782.
There was also a Roman house. (1792-1797). It served as a summer home for Duke Carl August.
There was also one in the park ruinthat is not. It originated in the romantic era when it was fashionable to decorate parks with ruins. Before that one Monument to William Shakespeare.
At last we were drawn to the House on the Horn. Very meaningless at first when you stand in front of it. It just looks like a bungalow. This house only becomes important if you know when it was built. Namely 1923 and thus ultra-modern in its time. It can also be visited, but only on certain days. In any case, it wasn't open that day.

Wieder zurück am Wohnmobil gönnten wir uns noch einmal eine Kaffeepause. Die Dame vom Campingplatz hatte uns Tisch und Stühle zur Verfügung gestellt und wir genossen die Herbstsonne.
Actually we wanted to let it be enough for the day. But our camping neighbors laid us down Tiefurt Castleto the heart, which was only a few steps away from the campsite. Why not?
Duchess Anna Amalia used it as a summer residence from 1781-1807. Goethe was often a guest here.
Here Goethe's Urfaust was found in a secretary by the lady-in-waiting Anna Amalias and copied. Goethe destroyed his work but the copy was preserved and could be printed later.
