The first thing we do is get a road map from the nearest visitor center.

An oversized lobster greets visitors to Shediacs. Since 2 coaches with Asians have just arrived, who all want a photo of the lobster and themselves (or vice versa), it is time to be patient. At some point the last photo is taken and we are allowed to photograph the lobster.

Der Ort gefällt uns gar nicht. Zu viel Rummel und unzählige hässliche Campingplätze. Etwas außerhalb finden wir dann doch noch einen ganz netten Platz. 

Wir erreichen den 

Eintritt 6,50€ p/P. Mit der Eintrittskarte darf man 2 Tage den Park betreten. Hier befinden sich die Hopewell Rocks. Dabei handelt es sich um Gesteinsformationen, die durch den enormen Tidehub von 21m 2 Mal täglich unter Wasser stehen. Im Moment ist Flut und man kann von den Aussichtspunkten mehr oder weniger nur Wasser ausmachen. 

Auf Ebbe müssen wir einige Stunden warten und verbringen den Tag damit, die Website zu aktualisieren und auf dem Parkplatz mit einer deutschen Familie, die hier Urlaub macht und einer belgischen Familie, die 2 Jahre lang reisen möchte, ein wenig zu plaudern. Die Belgier fahren mit eigenem Wohnmobil und haben diesen Spruch auf dem Wagen stehen: Une famille ordinaíre pour une aventure extraordinaíre.

Dann ist es Zeit, nochmals zu den Felsen zu gehen. Jetzt kann man dort, wo vorhin noch das Wasser stand, spazieren gehen. Nachfolgend je 1 Bild bei Flut und daneben bei Ebbe.

Of the Ruisseau Kinnie Brook Trail starts right on the square. It should be easy. It is - at least on the way there. It leads over roots and stones and finally down 165 steps. At the end of the path we come across an empty river bed with a huge boulder in it. A bank invites you to take a breather. An elderly Canadian couple joins us and we chat for a long time. Nobody really wants to tackle the way back. Okay, staying here isn't an option either - so go ahead. 165 steps now want to be climbed again. I can barely make it without an oxygen tent. 😊

We want to run a trail here today before we continue. Why not go to a waterfall for a change 😊

That offers us that Dickson Falls Trail on. He is described as "moderate". When I think of yesterday as “easy”, I don't really need an increase. But the way is only a short 1.5 km loop. It's also not as bad as feared. It goes downhill again through the forest to the waterfall, which at the moment only has little water. It has to look great in spring or after heavy rain. After all, we had our waterfall and there are only 103 steps today.

Wir verlassen den Fundy NP und fahren nach Saint John. Auf dem Highway dorthin sehen wir tatsächlich unseren ersten Elch. Allerdings leider tot am Straßenrand. Wir waren es nicht!

Saint John 

bietet einige nette kleine Parks als Oasen mitten in der Stadt. Am Wasser entlang lässt es sich nett über einen Boardwalk laufen. Hier befinden sich auch die hübsch restaurierten alten Speicherhäuser. 

A small town on the St. Johns River. There is a small flea market going on right now, which is quickly visited, as is the rest of the place.

wo die längste überdachte Holzbrücke (390m) der Welt steht. 

We drive through further north Florenceville. Mainly potatoes are grown here. This is not surprising, as the headquarters of the french fries manufacturer McCain is located here. The houses and properties in this area are all a bit more spacious than elsewhere.

Finally we end up in

that was named after the impressive waterfalls. However, it is rather a pitiful waterfall, as the locks are closed and only a little water can pass through. But the canyon the St. John River dug is enormous.

Vom Platz aus führt ein kurzer Rundweg mit Aussichtspunkten an der Schlucht entlang. 

Wer ganz mutig ist, kann mit der Seilrutsche über den Abgrund sausen.
