Nachdem wir gestern einen sonnigen Tag genießen konnten, ist heute von der Sonne nichts zu sehen. Der Himmel ist stark bewölkt.

Wir brechen zum Old Man of Storr 57°29'51.6"N 6°09'33.3"W auf, der ca. 25 km entfernt liegt. Gegen 10.00 Uhr erreichen wir unser Ziel. Ein paar Autos parken bereits an der Straße und wir stellen uns dazu. Wie ich befürchtet habe, möchte Reinhard natürlich zur Felsnadel. Es gibt 2 Wege bergauf, wir entscheiden uns für den kürzeren.

Nach wenigen Minuten haben wir die Autos bereits ein ganzes Stück unter uns gelassen. Der Ausblick ist jetzt schon toll.

Wir nähern uns dem Ende des Weges. Ab hier gibt es nur noch einen Trampelpfad, der ganz an den Felsen heranführt.

Wir müssen uns mit den Fotos beeilen, denn es zieht Nebel auf.

It's gotten really uncomfortable now. Cold, windy and foggy, which is why our stay outside is very short. The kilt skirt can only be seen far in the background on the first photo.

Zurück im Wohnmobil beraten wir, wie wir weiterfahren. Eigentlich stand auf der Isle of Skye noch mehr auf dem Programm. Aber der Nebel ist inzwischen so dicht, dass wir nur noch einige Meter weit gucken können. Wir hoffen, dass es auf dem Festland besser ist und fahren zurück.

Wir kommen am Old Man of Storr vorbei. Zu sehen ist dort nichts mehr. Alles vom Nebel umhüllt.

Als wir die Brücke zum Festland erreichen kommt Hoffnung auf besseres Wetter auf, denn der Nebel ist verschwunden und zum ersten Mal sehen wir heute auch ein Stück blauen Himmel. (Zwar nur ein kleines bisschen - aber immerhin!)

It is already noon when we Eilean Donan Castle IV40 8DX and the weather is really nice here. The parking lot in front of the visitor center is free.

Several movie scenes have already been shot in the castle, including Highlander and James Bond. A visit from the outside is enough for us. We'll have a coffee and a piece of cake in the visitor center and use the free WiFi to check our emails. Then we sit outside on a bench with a view of the castle and enjoy the sunshine.

In Fort Augustus is right next to the Information Center PH32 4DD a large parking lot. (Charges apply). First of all, we get a city map and ask about shopping opportunities. They are right next door at the gas station.

But first we visit the locks. There is a lot going on here, as several boats are just passing through the locks and many spectators have gathered. The boats have to be pulled by hand from one lock to the next. There are a total of 6 lock gates, which means that the boaters and companions have to bring a lot of time and patience.
