257 km - leider ist die Strecke heute nicht komplett eingezeichnet, da die GPS-Maus zu spät angeschaltet wurde.

Fort William

Es ist trocken, weshalb wir heute erst einmal ein wenig laufen möchten. Bei Fort William bietet sich eine Strecke an. Wir biegen in Fort Williams nach rechts ab von der Belford Rd in die Glen Nevis. Sie führt am River Nevis entlang. Irgendwann ist die Straße für LKWs ab 3,5t gesperrt. Ein kleines Stück fahren wir noch und stoßen auf einen Parkplatz.

PH33 6SY (56°46'09.9"N 5°02'12.6"W). Hier stellen wir das Wohnmobil ab, überqueren die erste kleine Brücke und biegen vor der zweiten Brücke rechts in den "River Walk" ein. Nun führt der Weg erst einmal immer am Fluss entlang, der sich erstaunlich abwechslungsreich zeigt.

Of course it goes downhill again and we come across a bridge over the river.

For the way back we choose the road that runs along the other side of the river. The mountains here seem to be a popular destination for climbers.

From Fort William we are particularly interested in the locks. There is a large parking lot directly behind the locks. Neptune's staircase PH33 7NG. Nothing is going on at the locks at the moment. It is now shortly before 2 p.m. and we are hungry. There is a hotel right next to the locks at the parking lot, which also offers coffee and cake. We can also call up emails at the same time, as free WiFi is offered here.

Glenfinnan

An der A 830 gibt es am Visitor Center PH37 4LT einen gebührenpflichtigen Parkplatz. Mit Mühe ergattern wir einen freien Platz. Direkt vom Parkplatz aus können wir einen Blick auf das Glenfinnan-Viadukt, eine Eisenbahnbrücke werfen. Erbaut 1897, berstehend aus 21 Bögen durfte die Brücke schon in mehreren Filmen als Kulisse dienen. Unter anderem in Harry Potter.

A narrow path leads to a hill, from which you will certainly have a better view. However, the path is pretty muddy at the moment, which is why we do without it. Instead, we cross the street where that Glenfinnan Monument stands

Oban

We drive back the way to Fort William and on to Oban. Here we find Aldi, Lidl and Tesco. We buy a few little things for dinner and look for a campsite. The route there is a bit adventurous, but the location of the place is great.

The next morning:

It's raining! We will now have breakfast in peace, maybe it will end in time.

It worked, it no longer rains. :-) We're going to Oban and park in the parking lot behind the tourist info at the port. North Pier PA34 5QD. (It is actually forbidden to park mobile homes here).

Now we first need an ATM that our cell phone can find in no time at all. Since we are leaving soon, 100 GBP should be enough in cash - we thought.

First of all, every visitor will notice the amphitheater enthroned on the mountain.
