2. Trip to Belgium. Deposit in your pocket. A lot has to be done on all of the cars, but we knew that beforehand because they are 16 years old after all. We choose an Iveco Daily 40/10. 41,000 km run. Gendarmerie personnel carriers. Blue light and siren still available. No trading possible. Price is fixed. Biggest problem: short-term number plates are only valid for Germany. How do we get the car from the dealer to the border. He is very accommodating here. (No problem) He offers us to bring the car to the border on a truck - free of charge. We also get a spare wheel. (At least about 500 € saved and a problem solved). Pay for the car and take original papers with you.

Cover letter to the Federal Motor Transport Authority, Flensburg. Request confirmation that the vehicle was neither reported in Germany nor reported as stolen. Insurance asked for a double card.

Confirmation from the Federal Motor Transport Authority has been received. Insurance card too. CDs concerned about Iveco spare parts. Running for World Cup? But not running.

Called the dealer, made an appointment when the vehicle would be handed over.

Driven to the road traffic office to get short-term number plates. Valid from March 17th, 2006. Not possible. The day of issue is also the first day of admission. Got angry because I can't understand that. The signs are always valid for 5 days and the end date is stamped on. Anyone who has successfully passed the 2nd school year can work out when I can use the parts. To do nothing is supposedly not possible.

Back to the road traffic office. Signs worried. Belgier calls at noon to see if it works today. Everyone arrives at the border every 10 minutes. Handover perfect. The drive home, the first drive of approx. 100 km. Car brakes partially because the brake is jammed. But arrive safely at home. Son must immediately try out whether the siren still works. Is still possible! 1 windshield wiper (including arm) is missing.
