Kilometers driven in Ontario: 2,892. Total: 6,676km

Our next destination should be New York. Unfortunately, there are not many options there to accommodate the motorhome. The pitch that we have chosen and the only one that comes into question is unfortunately booked out for a long time. It's vacation time and we're a month late. So it's time to reschedule.

So we stay in Canada for now and drive along the

on the highway. At some point we get bored and we continue on the 1000 Islands Parkway. Here we find a campsite where we stay for 2 days. After all, the laundry has to be washed at times 😊

Next to us there are 2 tents in which 6 Indians camp and invite us to eat Indian noodle. We decline with thanks because

1. Have we already eaten and are full

2. Do we not have enough drinking water to be able to eat Indian food 😊

We enjoy the warm summer evening. The stars glitter above us and the fireflies around us.

halten uns dort aber nicht lange auf. Es gibt einen schönen Strand und einen Jachthafen. Sehenswert ist das alte Gerichtsgebäude. 

Wir stehen gerade ein paar Minuten hier, als jemand „hello“ ruft. Ich gehe zur Tür und davor stehen zwei Polizisten. Die beiden sagen lachend, dass sie nur ein paar Fragen hätten. Woher das Auto kommt, woher wir kommen, wohin wir wollen. Der eine meint auf das Wohnmobil zeigend: It’s awesome. Dann wünschen sie uns noch eine gute Zeit. 

Es regnet. Der erste Grund, heute nicht zu den Niagarafällen zu fahren. Der 2. Grund: Es ist Sonntag und bestimmt brechend voll. Wir fahren stattdessen zu 

Das ist ein nett rausgeputzter Ort mit extremen Parkgebühren. Erst laufen wir ein Stückchen durch den Ort, dann besuchen wir Fort George. Ca. 6,50€ p. P. 

We have to get back to the car as our 2.5 hour parking time is up. We are looking for the same parking space as yesterday. After a while Valerie and Alan from France stand next to us with their Volvo. Shortly afterwards, Pierre and his family, also from France, follow in an MAN and also stand up.

We're at the early

Although we are on the level from which the water falls, we get quite wet from the spray up here. The first waterfall we see is on the American side.

Nachdem wir uns ausgiebig auf der Promenade aufgehalten haben, setzen wir unsere Reise fort und fahren nach 

Die Indian Falls sind nur 3km von unserem Stellplatz entfernt. Wir fahren das kurze Stück und stellen das Wohnmobil auf dem Parkplatz ab. Der Trail ist nur 700m, also schnell bewältigt. Da es auch hier seit Wochen kaum regnet, hat der Wasserfall auch nicht viel Wasser. Am Flussbett sieht man jedoch, dass es auch ganz anders aussehen kann

We drive up to Georgian Bay Perry Sound. There is a nice waterfront trail that we walk along. Unfortunately it starts to rain, which is why we break off and sit in

looking for a campsite. The first thing I notice here is a sign saying that you should brake for snakes. Rattlesnakes! I will definitely keep my eyes and ears open on our trails tomorrow!

Wir beginnen den Morgen mit einem Bad im See. Die Georgian Bay ist nicht so kalt, wie der Rest der großen Seen. 

Wir suchen uns zwei der Trails heraus, die wir gehen wollen. Der erste, der Lighthouse Trail ist nur 700m lang, also sehr schnell absolviert. 

Der zweite Trail, „Lookout Point Trail“, ist 3,5km lang und hier wird vor Klapperschlangen gewarnt. Man sollte 2m Abstand halten. Was heißt hier 2m – von mir aus gerne 20m oder besser noch 200m. 

Adam, unser Platznachbar hat mir erzählt, dass er in 5 Jahren erst einmal eine Schlange gesehen hätte. 

Der Trail ist schön und trägt seinen Namen zu Recht, am Ende hat man einen schönen Ausblick auf die Georgian Bay. 

We drive up on the Transcanada Highway

in the Lake Superior Provincial Park. On the way I read a sign: Don't feed the bears. Oh no?

We are slowly becoming aware of the vastness of Canada. We have already driven 500km along Lake Superior (first north, then west) and there is still no end in sight. Lake Superior Provincial Park alone is approx. 100km long.

In the park we first look for the short one Agawa Rock Trail which leads to Pictographs. It's only 0.5km long, but it's tough. Over rocks it goes down to the water. We reach the first rock painting. The way to the others is too dangerous for us. Over slippery rocks against which the waves hit, just hold onto a chain with one hand and the camera in the other - it doesn't have to be. Reinhard tries a little, but then gives up.

The way back to the parking lot leads through a narrow gorge.

We drive up to the scenic Transcanada Highway

On the way we wanted to see a canyon, but the road there was closed.

In Thunder Bay we drive to Mount McKay. (€ 3.25 per car). From here you have a view over the whole city and part of Lake Superior.

In der Stadt kaufen wir ein paar Lebensmittel und fahren dann etwas abseits an einen Flusslauf, der in den See führt.

Immer noch werden wir laufend auf das Wohnmobil angesprochen. Die Motorradfahrer zeigen im Vorbeifahren den Daumen nach oben.

Ein Fuchs läuft uns fast vor das Auto. Im letzten Moment dreht er ab und verschwindet zurück in die Büsche.

Wir haben gestern den rechten Tank ziemlich leer gefahren. Anscheinend war immer noch Dreck darin, denn heute macht das Auto wieder Probleme. Reinhard pustet alle Leitungen durch (lecker) und reinigt alles. Anschließend fährt der Wagen wieder problemlos. 

After Thunder Bay the TCH splits into no. 11 and 17. We choose the southern route no. 11 because it should be more scenic. It is really very beautiful, with a lot of forests and lakes.

We drive to the beautiful campground at Caliper Lake.
