Dawson Creek

Erneut wird die Zeit umgestellt. Hier suchen wir das Visitor-Center auf, das uns nicht nur mit Karten von BC versorgt, sondern auch gleich von Yukon und Alaska. Mit einem ganzen Stapel Karten verlassen wir das Center, das in einem ausgedienten Bahnhof untergebracht ist.

A few meters further on is the most interesting point in Dawson Creek, namely the "Mile Zero Post", which marks mile 0 on the Alaska Highway, which we will be using from tomorrow. It is part of the Panamericana.

We look for a place for the night. After dinner we want to stretch our legs a little and see that something must be going on some distance away. A rodeo is currently taking place here. Let's take a closer look at that in a moment. Unfortunately, at the moment there are only carriage races with 4 horses in front of them.

Later in the evening we have fireworks again with a box seat.

The distances to the next destination are getting bigger and bigger. That's why we're going until today

Fort Nelson

and stop there for the night on the riverside. Unfortunately, we often saw this picture on the way: Forests burned down.

Am Visitor Center gibt es eine Dumping-Station und Frischwasser, was wir beides in Anspruch nehmen. Anschließend tanken wir. Zusätzlich wird auch der Tank des Dieselkochers befüllt und unsere beiden Reservekanister.

Wir fahren bis zum Summit Lake in 138 km Entfernung, wo wir feststellen, dass der Tankdeckel fehlt. Also 138 km zurück. Der Tankdeckel liegt noch auf der Zapfsäule und wir können gleich wieder tanken. ☹ Shit happens!

Wir haben für heute keine Lust, den Weg ein 3. Mal zu fahren, obwohl der Alaska Highway hier sehr schön ist. Wir nehmen den selben Stellplatz wie gestern, denn hier steht man ruhig und ungestört.

The car is hanging on the back. If necessary also the motorboat. Not that a family of 8 get out there, no, there are usually 2 people. Or so..

... with at least 5 bay windows to extend. And in the supermarket there is ice cream in 4-liter buckets. 😊

8th week

This time we only make a short stop at Lake Summit.

Here is that too Summit Lake Pass, the highest point on the Alaska Highway. There is always a new, beautiful panorama.

Am Muncho Lake suchen wir den Strawberry Campground auf. Der See hat kristallklares Wasser.

We continue on the Alaska Highway. Yesterday there was a warning for the area that bison are on the highway. Unfortunately we didn't see any. That's why we see them today. A whole herd is walking along right next to the road.

Now we are leaving British Columbia for the time being and going into the Yukon
