With heavily overcast skies we drive towards Oslo. "Automatic autopass checks" appear more and more often on the way. We don't know what to do with it. I hadn't read anything about it. You can't stop at these points and certainly not pay. The cars in front of us always have the green light when they pass underneath. We have no light at all. What does that mean?

We arrive in Oslo and go to the ferry terminal.

The terminal of DFDS Seaways is empty and we can ask directly. Yes, today there is still something free for 2 people. Fine!

But unfortunately there is no more space for the mobile home. Tomorrow there would be a place for the motorhome, but unfortunately none for passengers. Next possibility for passengers and Motorhome is Thursday.

We book the places including breakfast. Dinner would not be possible in the restaurant with buffet until 8.30 p.m. So we don't pre-book dinner. We'll find something on the ferry.

We are still asking for a nearby campsite. We also get a map of Oslo. The one I already have is not too good.

The campsite is located high above Oslo and offers a great view both day and night!

Since the weather is better now, we take a short walk through the neighboring forest.

Then I sit down and calculate what we have to pay for the ferry. It's good that I'm already sitting!

The outward journey cost € 350 without dinner. The return trip should now cost € 611. Something can't be right there. Tomorrow we will ask again at the terminal.

Internet costs 50 NOK (€ 6.50) / 24 hours here at the campsite. Since we have no reception on our site anyway, we leave it.

The next day:

For today bright sunshine was announced, of which nothing can be seen at the moment.

After breakfast we first drive to the ferry terminal and ask about the price. Yes, everything is correct. That's just supply and demand.

I also understand that booking at short notice is more expensive. But € 260? That's a whopping 75% surcharge.

Well I can't help it. That's just the hardship for my naivete to get a ferry without any problems!

Now we need an ATM because our cash tends to zero. We keep asking ourselves until we find one. Now it can open up to the Kon-Tiki Museum.

There are several museums on the peninsula, which can be reached by both ferry and car. The Kon-Tiki Museum, the Maritime Museum and the Fram Museum are right next to each other. A little further there is the Viking Museum and the Folk Museum.

Entry costs between NOK 60 and NOK 80 (€ 7.90 and € 10.50). First we visit the Kon-Tiki Museum.

In 1947 Thor Heyerdahl crossed the Pacific on the Kon-Tiki raft. When you stand here in front of the original boat, it's hard to imagine. The only modern equipment he and his crew brought with them were radios.

In 1969 Thor Heyerdahl tried to cross the Atlantic with the Ra I papyrus boat. He had the boat built by African fishermen who, however, did not install a holding rope because they thought it was superfluous. The boat fell apart 960km before the finish.

Heyerdahl had his next boat, the Ra II, built by Indians and set sail again in 1970. This time he achieved his goal.

We looked at everything in the Kon-Tiki Museum and marveled at it and switched to the Fram Museum.

The Fram was built in 1892. It was reinforced at the bow and its construction ensured that it does not break in the ice.

In 1910 Roald Admundsen set out from Norway to be the first to reach the South Pole. His competitor Robert Falcon Scott set out from Great Britain with the same goal. Amundsen was the first to reach the South Pole in 1910. Scott only a month after Amundsen. Scott was ill-equipped. His dogs were unsuitable for the cold and the ponies he took with him died one by one. Scott and his companions died on the way back.

Wir wechseln ins Maritim-Museum. Dort kommen wir gerade rechtzeitig zu einer Film-Vorführung an, die wirklich sehenswert ist. Es handelt sich um Aufnahmen aus dem Flugzeug und vom Schiff. Sie zeigen verschiedene Gebiete Norwegens heute und zu früheren Zeiten. Der Film wird auf 4 (oder waren es 5?) nebeneinander liegende Leinwände projiziert und zeigt auch englischen und deutschen Untertitel für Erklärungen.

Ansonsten hat das Museum allerdings nicht viel zu bieten und wir verlassen es wieder.

Zurück am Wohnmobil finden wir einen Strafzettel vor. Ich kontrolliere noch einmal unseren Parkschein und wundere mich, da die Zeit noch nicht abgelaufen ist. Nach einigen Minuten steigt die Dame, die die Knöllchen verteilt aus ihrem Auto. Ich spreche sie an, dass da wohl ein Irrtum vorliegt und zeige ihr den Parkschein.

Hier liegen 2 Parkplätze unmittelbar nebeneinander, die durch einen befahrbaren Weg und durch eine gemeinsame Zufahrt miteinander verbunden sind. Wir haben das Wohnmobil auf dem 2. Parkplatz weit rechts geparkt, so dass der Ticketautomat vom 1. Parkplatz näher ist. Hier hatte ich das Ticket gelöst. Die Dame belehrt mich, dass die beiden Parkplätze nichts miteinander zu tun haben und ich hätte das falsche Ticket.

Es mag ja sein, dass wir zu blöd waren, das zu erkennen. Aber offensichtlich spekuliert man darauf. Denn: 

1. passierte einem Norweger zur gleichen Zeit genau dasselbe. Ob das also wirklich so offensichtlich ausgeschildert ist, lassen wir mal dahingestellt sein. 

2. unser Ticket wurde um 11.09 Uhr gelöst. Bis es hinter der Scheibe war und wir abgeschlossen hatten, mögen noch einmal 2 Minuten vergangen sein. Also 11.11 Uhr. Der Strafzettel wurde exakt 2 Minuten später, um 11.13 Uhr ausgestellt. Das heißt, die Dame saß bereits in ihrem Auto auf dem Parkplatz und hat uns auch gesehen. Sie hätte uns auch darauf hinweisen können. Das Ganze hat also Methode. 

Richtig übel wird einem bei der Strafgebühr. 760 NOK, das sind knapp 100,-€!!!

Zurück auf dem Campingplatz koche ich immer noch vor Wut. Vor allem wird mir jetzt mulmig, wenn ich an die Automatische Pass-Kontrolle denke. Wenn das Strafe kostet und ein blödes Knöllchen schon so teuer ist, was mag da noch auf uns zukommen?

Neben uns stehen Solinger mit ihrem Wohnmobil. Ich gehe kurzerhand hin und spreche sie an. Es ist ein älteres, sehr nettes Ehepaar, das mich sofort beruhigen kann. Wenn man keinen Auto-Pass hat, erhält man halt eine Rechnung nach Hause. Ohne Strafe!

We don't have to go to check-in until the early afternoon.

We enjoy our breakfast in peace. Then we pack our backpacks for the ferry. Sweep out the motorhome one last time, empty the waste water tank. We sit in the sun a little longer. and reading. Then it's time and we have to leave the campsite. We drive to the ferry port and stand directly in front of the check-in barrier. It doesn't take long and the barrier opens. We receive our boarding passes and are now at the front of one of the lanes. (Which means nothing, as we know from Copenhagen).

Zuerst dürfen einige LKWs einfahren. Dann sollen wir rückwärts fahren und uns vor die LKWs stellen. Der Einweiser winkt Reinhard immer weiter zurück bis es plötzlich fürchterlich scheppert. Der Einweiser hatte nur auf den LKW hinter uns geachtet und auf die seitliche Absperrung. An der oberen Seitenwand befanden sich aber zwei Lüfter mit Abdeckkasten. Der untere Kasten ist jetzt nicht mehr an der Wand und unser Wohnmobil passte nun.

Schadensaufnahme mit dem Einweiser, dann können wir auf unser Deck. 

Unsere Kabine befindet sich auf Deck 10. Darüber sind nur noch Konferenzräume und Sonnendeck. Die Kabine gefällt mir auf Anhieb. Sie hat einen kleinen "Erker" mit Sitzecke. Außerdem hat sie ein 2. Fenster. Der Raum ist dadurch heller und die Aussicht ist besser.

Die "Pearl Seaways" hat keine Räume mit Balkon (im Gegensatz zur "Crown of Scandinavia"). Ansonsten findet man sich auf dem Schiff schnell zurecht, weil die beiden Fähren ähnlich aufgebaut sind.

Since we were able to get on the ship very early, we first explore the restaurants so that we can reserve a table for dinner. The steakhouse appeals to us the most and we make reservations. Since we are the first to reserve, we get a table for two by the window for 7 p.m.

That would be done, now it's up to the sun deck. A good place is quickly chosen to witness the dropping off.

There is enough time before dinner to take a long shower. Then we go to the restaurant. The service is very friendly and the food is great. (The price, however :-))

In the late evening we can look forward to a fantastic sunset.

Abermals können wir ein leckeres Frühstück auf dem Schiff genießen. Danach verstauen wir unsere Habseligkeiten wieder in unsere Rucksäcke. Es dauert nicht lange und wir können die Ankunft in Kopenhagen erleben.

Dann kommt auch schon der Aufruf, dass die Passagiere sich zu ihren Fahrzeugen begeben sollen. Wir beeilen uns. Da wir ganz vorne stehen werden wir sehr schnell das Schiff verlassen können.

Vor uns verlässt ein Reisebus die Fähre, danach dürfen wir fahren. Das ging ja mal flott. Zoll erwartet uns hier auch nicht - was soll man aus Norwegen auch schmuggeln?

Es dauert eine Weile, bis wir aus Kopenhagen herausfinden, aber dann geht es zügig weiter. Wir überqueren die Insel bei Sonnenschein, dürfen als fast letztes Auto noch auf die Fähre Richtung Puttgarden und befinden uns wieder auf deutschem Boden.

Unser Navi kündigt an, dass wir um 20.30 Uhr zu Hause wären. Wir hatten in Deutschland eigentlich noch eine Übernachtung geplant, aber mal sehen, wie wir durchkommen.

Hamburg können wir ohne Stau hinter uns bringen, dafür dauert es bei Hannover etwas länger. Hinter Hannover rufe ich zu Hause an. Man will die Jungs ja schließlich vorwarnen. :-) Um 20.45 Uhr erreichen wir tatsächlich unser Ziel.

 

Fazit der Reise: Norwegen war abenteuerlich, es war anstrengend und es war teuer. Aber es war auch ein unvergleichliches Land, das uns immer wieder mit seiner vielfältigen Natur beeindrucken konnte! Die Reise hat sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt!
